How to Create a Chronology - The Basics

  1. To begin, upload some files (in the “Documents” tab). Drag and drops your files onto the page or click Upload Documents button. You can drag and drop your files into the upload modal, click Add Files to add individual files, or click Add Folders to add entire folders to your workspace. You can also upload large data sets such as PST or Zip files and unpack them in the workspace (we accept any document type).

  2. The system will process the contents of your uploaded files.

  3. Next, navigate to the Chronologies area.

  4. Click Create a Chronology to begin building your Chronology.

  5. You can start by adding any of the three entry types
    • Paragraph Entries

      1. Simply type into the initial entry.

      2. You can add another paragraph entry by hitting enter on your keyboard or clicking the ‘+’ button.

    • Magic Timeline Entries 

      1. Click the '+' button or type in '/ '.

      2. Click Magic Timeline in the drop-down menu.

      3. The Magic Timeline window will open and with AI-extracted events will appear as they are processed.

      4. You can filter the events by Time, Entities or Keyword.

      5. Select the relevant events and click Add Selection to Chronology to add them to your Chronology.

      6. To close the Magic Timeline, click the X button in the top left corner.

    • Document Entries.

      1. Click the '+' sign or type in '/'.

      2. Click Add from Documents in the down-down menu.

      3. Open the relevant document and highlight (via toolbar on the right) the section you want to add to your Chronology.

      4. Click Add to ... to add the highlighted section to your Chronology. Repeat this process until you have added all the relevant events to your chronology.

      5. Click Back to ... to get back to the Chronology page, each highlighted section will be referenced to the document it was extracted from.

  6. Click Sort Chronologically to sort your entries by date.

  7. Review your entries. You can click the trash icon in the toolbar to remove entries or the '+' sign to add entries.

  8. Click Export to export your Chronology  (in PDF or doc format).

  9. You can then  Customise your Export and click Submit once happy with your customisations.  2024-04-23_18-53-55
  10. The system will build your chronology. When it is finished, tick Download the Chronology to download a copy to your computer, or Save the chronology into the workspace and select which folder you would like it to be saved in. Finally, click Download Chronology.
